About this podcast

Welcome! I’m Tanner Campbell, host of Practical Stoicism, an independent podcast that explores the ancient philosophy of Stoicism in a way that’s grounded, accessible, and—most importantly—useful to real life.

I started this show because I believe Stoicism is more than quotes about hardship and silence. It’s a full-fledged moral philosophy, one that offers clarity, discipline, and purpose to anyone willing to take it seriously. And while there’s no shortage of content out there quoting Marcus Aurelius and Epictetus, there’s not nearly enough that explains how those quotes fit into the bigger picture—the cosmology, the ethics, the physics, the actual structure of the Stoic worldview.

Every week, I unpack the ideas that made Stoicism one of the most resilient philosophies of the ancient world, and I show how those same ideas can help us become better human beings today—not by gritting our teeth through life, but by understanding what life actually is and what our role in it should be.

I’m an American philosopher of Stoicism living in the UK, and I co-authored the book “What is Stoicism? A Brief and Accessible Overview.” I care deeply about helping others connect with Stoicism as it was truly meant to be practiced—not as a productivity hack, not as a life-coaching fad, but as a serious and fulfilling path toward virtue and moral clarity.

If you’re new to Stoicism, or if you’ve been around the block and want something deeper than just surface-level takeaways, this podcast is for you. It’s listened to in over 175 countries by people who, like you and me, are trying to live thoughtfully, ethically, and in alignment with Nature.

Thanks for being here. I hope the podcast helps you as much as Stoicism has helped me.

A Great Work Of Practical Thought

This podcast is quite refreshing. This is a great companion to podcasts like the daily stoic because this is a straight forward understanding of writings from stoic philosophers which leaves room for the listener to ponder rather than a long from discussion with many examples. I do love that too but this to me is something completely different and even minimalist in a profound way. I am am only into the 3rd book at this time and have listened for 2 days and can’t stop. Thank for your contribution.
